Memory Vault Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-20 Last updated: 2026-08-27
The short version
Memory Vault does not collect anything. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of its own. Your Snapchat export is read and displayed entirely on your iPhone, and nothing from it is ever transmitted anywhere.
If that is all you wanted to know, you are done. The rest of this page is the detail Apple and the law require.
What we collect
Nothing.
Memory Vault has no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, no advertising identifier, no account, no login, and no telemetry of any kind. We do not know that you installed the app, we do not know when you use it, and we do not know what is in your archive.
What the app accesses on your device
Your Snapchat data export. You choose an export file and hand it to the app through the iOS share sheet or the Files picker. Memory Vault reads that file to build your archive: the media inside it and the accompanying JSON metadata that records who sent what, and when. This processing happens entirely on your iPhone.
Your photo library, add-only, and only when you ask. If you choose to save media to your camera roll, the app requests permission to add photos. It never requests permission to read your photo library, and it cannot see photos you already have.
Memory Vault does not request access to your contacts, location services, microphone, camera, calendar, or health data.
What we never do
- We never ask for, receive, store, or transmit your Snapchat username, password, or any Snapchat credential. The app has no Snapchat login.
- We never connect to Snapchat's servers on your behalf.
- We never upload your photos, videos, messages, or metadata to us or to any third party.
- We never sell, rent, or share your data, because we never receive it.
Where your data is stored, and for how long
Everything imported stays in Memory Vault's private storage area on your iPhone. It is not synced to us, and the app marks its archive storage as excluded from iCloud backup so that a large import does not consume your iCloud storage or slow your device backups.
Retention: your imported archive remains on your device until you remove it. We impose no time limit, and because we hold no copy, we have nothing to retain or delete on our side.
Deletion. You can delete imported data at any time, in two ways:
- Inside the app: open the Profile tab, tap Manage Storage, then tap Delete All Imported Data and confirm. This permanently removes every imported file and everything the app derived from it: the copied archive, the index built from it, its thumbnails, and any media the app had cached for playback.
- Delete the app. iOS removes all of its data along with it.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. Two things are deliberately not touched by it: your own export ZIP files, wherever you keep them on your device or in iCloud Drive, and any media you separately exported to your camera roll. That media is part of your photo library, so remove it through the Photos app.
Children
Memory Vault is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Purchases
Memory Vault is free, and offers a single one-time in-app purchase that unlocks the rest of your archive. That transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see, receive or store your payment details, your Apple Account, or your name. The app asks Apple whether this Apple Account owns the unlock and stores nothing but the answer, on your device. There is no purchase history on any server of ours, because we operate none.
Third parties
Memory Vault includes no third-party SDKs, no trackers, and no advertising. It makes no network requests to us, because there is no "us" to request from: we operate no servers for this app.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal data that a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase. Your data is in your possession on your device, and the in-app deletion control above gives you direct and complete control over it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "last updated" date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes. Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect substantive changes.
